My Letter to Sam Farha

Hi Mr. Farha,

I’m a fan. Ever since I first saw you playing poker, I realized we share a certain way of playing: the unpredictable, risky kind of poker that makes the game so great for TV. You’re the kind of player that ‘works’ on the screen. You’re the type of player I always enjoy watching. To make a long story short, you are my favorite poker player.

The reason why I made this website is simple: I’d love to hit the casinos with you — just one night, and take a closer look at the life of a professional gambler, my favorite professional gambler! I could go to Vegas and try to meet you in the casinos, but seeing as the odds of actually being able to meet you are close to none, I can’t justify the cost of a transatlantic flight — seeing as I just graduated from college.

What I’d like to ask is the following: a couple hours of your time. I don’t want money, I’ll save as much as I can to gamble with you. I don’t want my transportation paid for, I’ll gladly pay for my own economy class ticket to Vegas. I’m not a rich kid, but I don’t need charity either. I have a job, I work hard, and I’m not losing it all on the poker table. ;) I’m willing to travel at any given time — any day that fits you, I’ll be in Vegas.

To close things off: don’t feel obliged to do this. Nobody will hold it against you if you don’t meet me. Everybody understands you have no real reason to do this. If you don’t, I’m still a fan. If you do, I’ll be very grateful (and I’ll pay for dinner, that’s a promise!).

Whatever you decide, thank you for taking the time to read this letter.
